Heating
In today's rough economy sufficient reason for utility costs rising, everybody wants to save money. Most people are paying more than they should for utility costs monthly because their heating/air conditioning system isn't be used to its capacity. Your heating and air conditioning system includes the ductwork and filter.

Springhill
Most people think if they have 97% efficient furnace and newer air-con system that they are doing everything they're able to to save money on heating & cooling their residence. In most homes as a result of poor duct design the systems are operating under a 60% of rated capacity. Usually when a high efficient air-con system is installed having a poorly designed duct system the efficiency worsens. This happens because the high efficient air-con coils are larger and restrict air-flow more than a smaller coil.

Studies preformed by National Comfort Institute along with the Department of Energy have found that most homes with forced air heating & cooling systems have 40% or better of unused capacity.

This is not hard to understand if you think relating to this. If you have a forced air heating & air conditioning system you are paying to condition air.

Unused capacity may be the amount of air your heating & cooling can do conditioning but can't which is not there to condition. Every minute that the burners are on in your furnace or air conditioning compressor is running any unused capacity is simply wasted energy.

A great way to think about this: You have a tub you need to hand fill with water.

You need to fill the tub with 50 gallons of water: You have a 1 gallon bucket. but rather than filling the bucket using a gallon water and dumping 50 times. You fill with ½ gallon water and dump it 100 times.Your capacity was 1 gallon but you only used ½ gallon in the bucket which took more energy to fill the tub.

A forced air comfort system (Furnace and/or Ac System) is doing the same thing if it is not have the proper quantity of air through the system. Remember you are paying to conditioning air. That maybe what you want it to complete.

Very few people that includes most of Heating, Cooling professionals don't consider it as a system.

They look advertising as a Box (Furnace or Outside Condensing Unit for Air Conditioning. (This is not knocking any contractors; unfortunately itrrrs this that we are taught. Almost all of the training in the Heating & Cooling Industry arises from Furnace and Air Conditioning Manufacturers and their job is always to sell equipment not maintain existing equipment or repair inadequate ductwork.)

Every time a furnace and air cooling system is installed and airflow is just not addressed your odds of winning the lottery are superior to the actual results of that new Super High Efficient Equipment delivering whatever you were told it was gonna do

You may stretch your budget but to really spend less the equipment needs to run less along with the best way for this to happen is for it to be sized properly, (Most products are oversized) we still believe bigger is much better. Your equipment ought to be as small as possible. Meeting a correctly preformed load calculation for your residence or business and after that it needs to be used to capacity. Sorry that is getting off topic.

Within that few the things i would like you come away with are:

You will not have just a furnace and/or air conditioning equipment you have a Comfort System.
Your Comfort System's Job is always to condition air. (All through the year)
If you have never had an airflow analysis it might be a wise investment. You may find that some duct renovation has to be very good investment.
